Tips to stay healthy throughout the new semester.

Getting back to academic activities can be very demanding and hectic. Especially, after a stressful two weeks of fieldwork. There are new routines as an anthropology or archaeology student to adapt to which include: The writing of field reports, and lectures to attend.

When things get a little overwhelming, keeping up with a healthy lifestyle becomes an afterthought. But, how then do you stay healthy during these hectic post-fieldwork period? Below are few health tips you can adopt to stay healthy this new semester.


Tip 1: Set a schedule


One of the most important aspects of dealing with the post-fieldwork workload and new semester is scheduling your daily tasks. This is very important as it helps organise your daily responsibilities. You can get a mobile app or find a planner if possible. While planning your day, be realistic in your planning and keep to the time schedule.


Tip 2: Time management


“Time is precious”, so they say, time management on the other hand, is equally key, as you balance school responsibilities and your personal life, make sure you learn time management. Use the 24hours we have on a daily wisely and judiciously.


Tip 3: Eat well.


Breakfast is really and will always be the most important meal of the day. Always encourage breakfast so as to have better concentration and more positive reactions throughout the day. Eat lunches that will help your body, and above all, do not eat late at night. You should strive to eat a balanced diet, unhealthy eating can lead to adverse side effects.

Tip 4: Get sound sleep


Early to bed, early to rise is most times nearly impossible among university students. But, ensure to always get enough sleep each day no matter the circumstance you find yourself. One major tip is to always make room for two to three hours during the day to make up the hours of sleep lost at night as this is essential to keep you healthy and strong for the task ahead.


Above all, always keep to the covid-19 guidelines wherever you find yourself. Don’t limit the compliciance within the University environment. Wash your hands regularly, always wear a nose mask when going out, avoid physical contacts and crowded areas.
Living a healthy lifestyle can help you manage the stress of school and adequately prepare for the task ahead. However, adopt these healthy habits to stay energized and focused during the new semester.
