Find out this and more in the interview.

AASA PRESS: HELLO CALEB
AND THANKS FOR JOINING US

AASA PRESS: HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF IS IT THE “OUTGOING OR EX-PRESIDENT” OR WHAT EXACTLY?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: I can describe myself as the president

AASA PRESS: HOW DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE MADE HISTORY BEING AASA’S PRESIDENT AND WHAT EXPERIENCES HAVE YOU GAINED AS PRESIDENT?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: I feel excited. Being the president has made me understand the need of team work. And joint decision

AASA PRESS: YOU WERE ELECTED INTO OFFICE WITH OTHER AMAZING INDIVIDUALS. HOW WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH YOUR COMMITTEE MEMBERS?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: It very exciting, very fantastic. I have an amazing team

AASA PRESS: WE VERY MUCH UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE INVOLVED IN WELCOMING FRESHERS. HOW ARE YOU KEEPING UP WITH THEM AND HOW HAS THE EXPERIENCE BEING SO FAR?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: Yes I have even before the pandemic. Immediately after their admission into the noble department. We have been doing all that is required to get them fully started.
The experience has been good but the virtual learning adopted by Our Noble University has really created some stumps and we doing our best to help them overcome those stumps.

AASA PRESS: “STUMPS” IF YOU COULD EXPLAIN BETTER. ALSO YOU’VE BEEN INTERACTING WITH THEM CAN YOU TELL US HOW THEY’RE ADAPTING TO THE VIRTUAL MODEL OF LEARNING?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: The stumps are simply all the hitches created by the virtual class. Such as issues with payment, registration and difficulty in accessing their portal. Well I can say their adaptation to the virtual class is improving unlike the beginning of the semester when they had almost zero knowledge of what University of Ibadan has in store for them as regards the virtual learning.

AASA PRESS: HAVE YOU BY CHANCE REACHED OUT TO THE LIAISON OFFICER AS REGARDS THE ELECTIONS AND WHAT THE PLANS ARE?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: Yes… I did and I suggested a virtual election but the idea didn’t go well with him stating that it has alot of issues that he is not willing to risk. He simply pocketed the idea

AASA PRESS: ARE THERE HOPES OF HANDING OVER TO A NEW PRESIDENT AND OF COURSE ELECTIONS BEFORE THE END OF THE SEMESTER?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: That depends on the joint decision of the Laison officer and the already constituted electoral commission. We all know the executives or the President has no hand in electioneering process of the department.

AASA PRESS: WHAT ARE THE REMARKABLE THINGS THAT HAPPENED DURING YOUR TENURE AS PRESIDENT?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: Well.. We were able to organize picnic, which happened to be the first I witnessed.

We where able to drag our share from the faculty of art through constant representation of the department at the faculty level.. That’s the evidence of the waste being in the department and also other benefits from the faculty

We were also able to secure our constance custom of having at least one member from our department as an executive in the faculty of Arts.

We where also able to champion our own AASAITES to be well represented in the faculty of science Legislative council which didn’t happen in some tenures before.

We also organized and supported many of our members to win certain positions in both faculties including secretary to the CPS of AFAS.

We also organized our routine Field work bonfire and football games.

Our administration also witnessed and supported the department leadership in providing good quality chairs and other renovations currently witnessed in the department.. And this was the major article in my manifesto.

We also organized our second custom in the department which is dinner. And we where also able to collate and send past questions to all levels

AASA PRESS: WITH ALL THESE CAN YOU SAY YOU SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVED AS AASA PRESIDENT?

CALEB IKECHUKWU: With full affirmation

AASA PRESS: THANKS SO MUCH FOR SPEAKING TO AASA PRESS.

CALEB IKECHUKWU: Thanks so much… Keep up the good work
